AIA'S SCHOOL IN SANTA FE

One of the AIA's Schools that Kelsey championed was in Santa Fe. The AIA had already sponsored research in the Americas before Kelsey became active in the organization, but some members of the governing body did not favor pursuing this direction, preferring to focus the AIA's resources on the Greek and Roman world. Kelsey expressed his more expansive philosophy in the speech he gave in Santa Fe in 1917, which was published in an issue of Art and Archaeology.
