KM 6693: Polished Bronze Mirror
possibly from Rome
Gift of Van Deman

The small polished bronze mirror was most probably intended for personal use, although it may also have been employed by Valeria Callityche in her profession as hairdresser (ornatrix). Given the intricate detail around the edges of the mirror and the sophisticated crafting of the handle, the mirror could be an indication of the woman's wealthy status, as well as her concern with appearances.
