It is possible that this fragment was not part of a jackal-headed human body but came from a jackal figure, perhaps part of a practical object like a vessel. It is made of faience, a material regularly used for magical and medical amulets. Though this head could refer to any of the popular jackal gods of Egypt, it is likely that it is a representation of Anubis.
