Ceramic production prospered in central Thailand in the 14th through 16th centuries as potters of the Ayutthaya Kingdom made vessels that were in demand across Asia. The fused bowls displayed here were discarded in the refuse dump of a pottery workshop. The perfect vessel was carried by boat from Thailand to the Philippine island of Cebu, where it was a valued object and used as a burial offering.
