2. Projecting Corner Entablature Fragment with Part of a Capital (MNR 310255)inv. no. 310255max. h. 0.53 m; max. w. 0.30 m; max. d. 0.31 m Pentelic marble The piece is broken on the rear side, where it was attached to the building. The right side is less well preserved than the left. In the upper part of the front there is a cut for an attachment. The lower part is cracked. The moldings are the same as those of MNR 310254 and the two examples in Ann Arbor (KM 2424 and KM 2427). This piece belonged to a projecting part of the structure and was associated in all probability with the male torso that leans against a palm tree (MNR 310252). On the left side the corner resolution of the entablature is marked by a rosette between the dentils. The palm-frond capital is treated rather summarily at the top, where no drill work separates the fronds from each other. For a complete description, see MNR 310254.
