Gender, Mortality, and Demographics artifacts   The stela of a royal official at left reveals that it was apparently commissioned by his sister.
The stela at left commemorates two women and a girl of unclear family relationship, who may all have died at the same time, perhaps from a plague.

The mummy label at right, used to identify the deceased through the embalming process, in transit, and in the afterlife, gives the name and age (18) of the deceased young woman. The stela above was inscribed for a middle-aged man and two young girls, presumably his daughters.
