Frag·men·ta·tion

   picks up the pieces

The study of ancient objects is in many ways the science of putting pieces
together--physically, to reconstruct a whole object out of excavated fragments,
and epistemologically, to construct a coherent story out of the different ways of understanding an object.

Once the pieces of the object--or the story--have been put together, do the seams
show? Should they?
