This film opens with a pull-back from the Imperial Cult Sanctuary to a point high above the known remains of the city. Representative structures appear in gray and then assume full color, then the viewer flies past the City Gate, up the Decumanus and Cardo past the Nymphaeum, along the aqueduct and over the Bath complex, and finally around and into the Basilica "of St. Paul." Each of the major known structures is then illustrated in turn with its own segment.
