THE MUSEUM IN YALVAÇ
Since the Yalvaç public museum was opened in 1966, its collection
has continued to grow. Exhibits chronicle the city’s and region’s
prehistoric, Classical, early Christian, and Turkish history. At the time
of the Michigan expedition, excavated finds were stored first in the garden
of the town’s middle school and then in the library. Before the
present museum was built, many artifacts that had been excavated at Pisidian
Antioch were sent to other museums in the region for storage and display.
In recent years, the director of the public museum arranged to have these
materials returned to Yalvaç, where they are now attractively shown
in modern galleries and the adjacent garden.
